Letters to Heaven (#5)

Image
Dear Chotte, I am writing this to you out of sheer throwback. So there’s this app, timehop – tells you what you were upto on this present day.  It may sound a bit cheesy but it’s like waking up/starting your day with memories of the past; collects any activity shared over social media and posts it every day. Fun, no? Anyways, it does affect me. Today started off like just any other day, looking back at how time had hopped so quickly. Santosh first shared it, which made me share to the rest of the group. It got me a bit too nostalgic, hence the post. Last year around this time, we celebrated Rinku’s birthday by doing the midnight trek to Skandagiri over the weekend. 2013, Dudhsagar happened. And I will tell you why/how is it another special trek/travel for me. 2013 itself was one fantastic year in terms of travel - Kodachadri, Malvan, Delhi, Dudhsagar.  Karthik bhai had been planning Dudhsagar for over a year, it is quite a task to get permission from the authorit...

Letters to Heaven (#4)

Why is it that the mind is always on the lookout for an end? Why cannot we unlearn, sometimes? Do wounds thoroughly heal? Or is it just new skin that covers it up? Does love really set you free? Does it stitch up the scars? Do you completely let go? ---------- How would I know, what tying a thread on a brother’s wrist felt, or what it meant? Not just me, take Suchi for that matter. Or is that overrated too? Dear Brother, I need to know - Why did you never make an effort to bond with Suchi? Why have you made her live with that void, while she was only innocent and oblivious? Why did you deprive her of the brother-sister relationship/love? Unlike other relationships, we did not have to choose each other. Do you think you tried enough? Was distance the only excuse for the absence of love? No, I will not love you less. I just need answers. --------- Happy Rakshabandhan. Regards, Sister

Hello You!  Today, I shall write to you about this one friend. Why so special? You will know when you finish the letter. -----     I am not a fan of birthdays, you know it. But honestly, I guess I just do not like mine. Kyunki kisi bhi khaas dost ka janamdin manane mein mujhe bahut maza aata hai. No it’s not the cake smashing part, its just the effort and fun that goes in, to make them happy. One such person is this girl (yes, girl) Aonu; Anushya Choudhury, in short Anu. There is nothing I can physically do to keep her happy today, hence this post. And she came after you left, so you do not know her.  So Aonu. Some love her name and wonder how difficult could it be for one to pronounce a simple name of a person this beautiful, that she had to chop it half? The world would not just find it strange, but find it so hard to believe, how 2 people who are completely different, get along so well! We are poles apart in our co...

Letters To Heaven (#2)

Dear Chotte, Apologies for the silence and absence, after the first letter to you, I somehow did not want to share my feelings public. I could not gather things around me and pen them down, they just wouldn’t sound happy. Not that I am fine with it now, but like I said, how else do we talk? Thanks to a bunch of school friends for pushing me last night, I am back! Do understand and forgive me. ---- So, the other day, May 1 st , I was watching a few videos of Senna. You were on my mind the entire time. Remember how I’d just wait for you to switch on the TV so I could escape the Sunday shopping, while you would come back from playing, all sweaty? The videos reminded me of your love for sports. Illusion mode on - I have this assumption that there are categories of rooms in Heaven; like the ones who lose their lives in accidents have a separate one than the ones who take their own lives, etc. It does not make sense but let me live with the belief. So, have you met Senna there?! ...

Letters to Heaven (#1)

Dear Chotte, 3 years, huh! Sigh... Time flies but does not always heal. How is it there? Are you in peace, as they say? I have been meaning to write to you for a real long time now, glad its happening tonight, of all the days. Well, how else would you know what am I up to, down here?  I miss you. I wish there were a deeper synonym for that word.  How can I forget that horrifying morning I woke up to, and I was so sure you were still alive, that I actually prayed you would come back. We will have to live with the mystery until we come meet you up there. I know you wanted to live; you had your own share of dreams, I know it was not your fault. You'd never want to hurt us. I just wished you looked better when we bid you goodbye; if only... So? Where do you want me to start? What do you want to hear? Funny, I ask when I know I cant hear you anymore. But this is the only other mode of communication I can have with you, apart from looking up at the stars and hoping that ...

Home... Sweet Home

Image
How many of you have a home?  How many have been with your folks forever? By that I mean eat, sleep, feed, get fed, come home to a family? How many of you have been away from yours?  Why have you been away? Do you like the distance because you can do what you want? Or you had no choice but to go away to make your mark out there?  How homesick are you? How many do not have one? And where do you go? ---- Home is where the heart is, where it all begins.  Some of you are lucky enough to be in and around that feeling, some are not. And there are some who in spite of having this privilege, either are unlucky to enjoy it or do not quite like the attention.   My understanding of home is from what I have experienced at friends' or relatives'. I get to live this once or twice in a year for not more than a week. For me, it is an absolutely overwhelming experience.  I can say being deprived of it pinches you when you actually receive it. There is that...

In The City...

Image
Its been 2 years in this city and still feels like there is so much I haven't explored/experienced. Last week seemed to be probably one of the most silent ones. It began bad, an annoying end to first day at a new work place; the new paint in the pg seemed more like a pink prison than a paying guest. The paint got on to me so bad, the lungs could not bear . Breathlessness, sore throat, excessive dosage of steroids, so bad that I skipped work the whole week. But hey! It turned out quite productive!  I got myself some good rest, made time out for a play, cooking and other fun stuff. Back to work implied no more making time out for plays and other weekday activities. So I tried to do all that I wanted in this one week, well I had to find a way to feel better!  The play "Nothing like Lear' was much enjoyed; its unbelievable how some people have such incredible talent.  Vinay Pathak , an artist you must experience - Such effortless acting, unending passion and just so much...
